Service Description
Designed especially for young makers aged 13–17, this five-week course offers a fun and supportive introduction to wheel throwing. Students will learn how to prepare and centre clay, create cylinders and bowls, trim and refine their forms, and decorate and glaze their finished pieces. With plenty of practical wheel time, they will build new skills, develop confidence and enjoy expressing their creativity through clay. No previous pottery experience is needed. Our intimate classes are limited to just six students, allowing each young maker to receive individual guidance and the space to progress at their own pace. What’s included • Five, weekly two-hour guided sessions • Clay and use of pottery wheels, studio tools and equipment • Underglazes and studio glazes • Bisque and glaze firing of course pieces up to 8 pieces • Tuition by an experienced teacher in an intimate class of no more than six students Good to remember The final 15 minutes of each session are reserved for cleaning and packing up, an important part of studio life. Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. Closed-toe shoes are required, and short nails make wheel throwing much easier and more enjoyable. Pottery is as much about the process as the finished pieces. We encourage mindful making, experimenting and embracing the learning process—including being willing to let go of a few wonky pots along the way! Cancellation Policy
This five-week course is for students aged 13–17. Bookings must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Attendance and missed sessions The booking covers the complete five-week course. Missed sessions cannot be refunded, credited, transferred or made up in another class. Please notify P4Pottery as soon as possible if the student will be absent. Drop-off and collection Students should arrive no more than 10 minutes before class and must be collected promptly at 6:30 pm. Students may leave the studio independently only when prior permission has been provided by their parent or legal guardian. Please advise P4Pottery of authorised collection arrangements and notify us of any changes. Health and safety Students must follow the teacher’s instructions and studio safety rules at all times. Closed-toe shoes are required, long hair must be tied back, and clothing should be comfortable and suitable for working with clay. Parents or guardians must provide accurate emergency contact details and disclose any medical conditions, allergies, accessibility requirements or support needs relevant to the student’s safe participation. A parent or guardian must remain contactable during each session. By completing the booking, the parent or guardian authorises P4Pottery to provide basic first aid and contact emergency services when reasonably necessary. Any associated medical or ambulance costs remain the responsibility of the parent or guardian. P4Pottery reserves the right to contact a parent or guardian and request early collection if a student’s behaviour places themselves, another person or studio equipment at risk. Ceramics and finished work Ceramics involves natural variations during drying, glazing and firing. While every reasonable effort is taken, P4Pottery cannot guarantee that every piece will survive the process without cracking, warping, glaze variations or other unexpected results. Parents or guardians will be contacted when finished pieces are ready for collection. Cancellations Course cancellations and refunds are subject to P4Pottery’s standard course cancellation policy and applicable Australian Consumer Law. If P4Pottery cancels the course or a scheduled session, families will be offered an appropriate replacement session, credit or refund.
