Service Description

Designed for those who have wheel throwing experience and would like to refresh their skills, rebuild confidence and strengthen their foundations on the wheel. Over four weekly 2.5-hour sessions, you will revisit essential techniques including centering, opening, pulling walls and trimming, while creating a selection of functional pieces. With a small class size of just six participants and plenty of individual guidance, you will have the opportunity to work at your own pace, refine your technique and get comfortable at the wheel again in a relaxed and supportive studio environment. This course is ideal if it has been a while since you last threw, if you have completed a wheel throwing course previously and would like more practice, or simply feel that your foundational skills could use a little refresh. If you would like to continue developing your skills afterwards, our 8-Week Wheel Throwing course offers more time to refine your technique, explore a wider range of forms and build greater independence on the wheel. What’s Included Tuition and individual guidance from an experienced teacher, Clay and use of studio tools and equipment, Bisque and glaze firing for up to 8 pieces to take home. Selected pieces glazed by the studio in a clear glaze, allowing you to spend your class time focusing on throwing and developing your technique. Good to Know This course is designed for people with some previous wheel throwing experience. You don’t need to be confident or particularly experienced — if you have thrown before and would benefit from revisiting the fundamentals, this course is for you. The final 15 minutes of each session are reserved for cleaning and packing up, an important part of studio life. Please bring your own apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. Pottery is as much about the process as the finished pieces. We encourage mindful making, experimenting and embracing the learning process — including being willing to let go of a few wonky pots along the way!
