Wheel Throwing Refresher - Tuesday Evening

Refresh your skills and get back on wheel with confidence.

Designed for those who have tried wheel throwing before and would like a refresher as well as complete beginners, this course focuses on the fundamentals of working with clay.

Over four weekly 2.5-hour sessions, you will learn essential techniques including centering, opening, pulling walls and trimming, while creating a selection of functional pieces.

With small class sizes (six participants) and plenty of individual guidance, you will gain confidence on the wheel, enjoy the creative process, and experience the rhythm of weekly pottery classes in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Whether you are returning to clay or trying the wheel for the first time, this 4-week course is a wonderful way to explore pottery and discover whether a longer class is right for you.

While you will learn the foundations of wheel throwing, our 8-Week Beginner Wheel Throwing course offers a more in-depth experience, with additional time to develop your technique, explore a wider range of forms and build confidence on the wheel. If you catch the pottery bug (and many do!), the 8-week course is the perfect next step to continue your ceramics journey.

What is Included:

Tuition by an experienced teacher

Clay and use of studio tools and equipment

Bisque and glaze firings (up to 8 pieces of work to take home)

Selected pieces will be glazed by the studio in a clear glaze, allowing you to focus your time on developing your wheel throwing skills.

Good to know:

This course is designed as a refresher for those who have some wheel throwing experience. It is also a good place to start for beginners and a great way to see if a longer 8-week throwing course is right for you.

The final 15 minutes of each session are reserved for cleaning and packing up, an important part of studio life.

Please bring your own apron or wear clothes that you don't mind getting muddy!

Pottery is as much about the process as the finished pieces. We encourage mindful making and embracing the learning journey along the way and not being afraid to let go of some of your vessels.
