Beginner Wheel Throwing - Thursday Evening

Ready to immerse yourself in wheel throwing? Our 8-Week Beginner Wheel Throwing course is a comprehensive introduction to pottery, designed for complete beginners and those looking to build a strong foundation on the pottery wheel.

Over eight weekly 2.5-hour sessions, you will learn the essential techniques of wheel throwing, including centering, opening, pulling walls, trimming and finishing. Your 8th and the final lesson is a 3-hour decorating and glazing session, where you will further personalise your favourite pieces ready for firing. As your confidence grows, you will progress beyond the basics to explore a wider range of forms and refine your skills with the support of your teacher and a small group of fellow makers.

With plenty of hands-on practice and individual guidance, you will create a collection of handmade pieces while enjoying the calming and rewarding process of working with clay.

Whether you are completely new to pottery or returning to clay after some time away, this course offers the time and support needed to develop confidence, build skills and discover the joy of making with your hands. Many students go on to continue their ceramics journey through further classes or studio membership.

Good to know:

The final 15 minutes of each session are reserved for cleaning and packing up, an important part of studio life.

Please bring your own apron or wear clothes that you don't mind getting muddy!

Pottery is as much about the process as the finished pieces. We encourage mindful making, embracing the learning journey along the way and not being afraid to lett go of some of your vessels.
